Massive Jellyfish Swarms in Hawaii, Gulf of Mexico and Other Locations

Massive swarms of stinging jellyfish and jellyfish-like animals are transforming many world-class fisheries and tourist destinations into as scientist like to call it "jellytoriums."Areas that are currently particularly hard-hit by these squishy animals include Hawaii, the Gulf of Mexico, the east coast of the U.S., the Bering Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, Australia, the Black Sea and other European seas, the Sea of Japan, the North Sea and Namibia.

Massive jellyfish swarms--some of which cover hundreds of square miles--have caused injuries and even occasional deaths to water enthusiasts, and have caused serious damage to fisheries, fish farms, marine mines, desalination plants, ships and nuclear power plants. From large swarms of potentially deadly, peanut-sized jellyfish in Australia to swarms of hundreds of millions of refrigerator-sized jellyfish in the Sea of Japan, suspicion is growing that population explosions of jellyfish are being generated by human activities. Human activities that have been suggested by media reports and scientists as possible causes of some jellyfish swarms include pollution, climate change, introductions of non-native species, overfishing and the presence of artificial structures, such as oil and gas rigs. But which of these human activities, if any of them, are really to blame?

The iliad comparison

The movie and the poem both potray simlar yet different views on the epic, The Iliad. There are more examples on the story and how they are different and alike. For example the similarity that they have in common are the insults which were both stated in the poem as well as the movie.(you sack of wine) The difference is the use of Gods in the story and in the movie. The poem told more use of god's to help the characters as opposed to the movie's view. Another difference is the battle between Achilles and Hector, they did not run around the city as stated in the poem and there was no use of scales. The movie and the poem have different views of the epic yet they both get the main story across.

Archetype

In this thrilling movie, there are many archetypes that can be recognized all throughout the story. The movie starts out with a kid being exposed to a toxic liquid which blinds him but sharpens all of his other senses. He has the advantage over his enemies through his hearing and all the other senses. He fights crime and serves justice. He has a "love" if you will, that is both his friend yet his enemy.
The trickster is a man named bullseye who tricks people into doing his dirty deeds. He does not show himself as a recognizable villian, but he is throughout the story. He is being worked through a higher athority, named Kingpin. He is the evil athority over the town who runs a complex buisness. Electra is daredevil's love yet he fights her not knowing who she really is. The daredevil also uses signs to show that he was at scenes of crimes, but he is always there for the better of things. Revenge stirs up in his heart later in the movie to kill Bullseye who killed his "love".

Josh Smith's 1st assignment

So during the summer i went to silverwood in Idaho. Now i can use many words to describe this experience but i think crazy tops them all. Rollercoasters left and right, lines coming out of the door, and did i mention sunburns? Now, let me tell u about rollercoasters. You see them and you get all stoked before hand wanting to ride it and as your in the back of the line you thinks its going to be the most fun you've ever had. About mid-way through the line you feel a sense of nervousness as if u cant turn back from the chaos. Then right before you get on the coaster butterflies start to turn up, and as you enter into this crazy world of spins and insanity you start to think why you did this. This was my exact feeling, and climbing up the track ready to go down was definitely the scariest minute of my life! When the insanity came to an end everyone had a big smile on their face and it was all good. Well, i had a blast with my family and it was definitely a trip to remember. Long car rides through the state filled the car with cranky kids and night time driving came for loud snoring. It was as if i was in a big movie.I think the best part about it was the fact that we had no school, life was good and I was happy.

Hero Assignment

I can choose from a wide variety of Heroes, but there is one that especially stands out to me. This hero comes from a movie that ive watched many times over, The Terminator. The Terminator may be a programmed robot to do good, but he is a living life saver. He is someone who understands how humans work and puts emotion in front of objective. His abilities as a robot is superrobotic strength and resistance to pain, after all he can feel none. He's amazingly interesting and can be funny at times. He stands out to me more than anyone because he is funny, different and likeable.
